Anodized sheet metal has undergone a process of increased controlled oxidation of aluminum. As a result, a layer of aluminum oxide is formed on the surface of the material. This layer improves the chemical and mechanical properties of the material. The surface becomes smooth as glass. After the anodizing process is complete, the material is chemically, corrosion- and abrasion-resistant more than the metal itself.
